The Saulteau First Nations Cultural and Recreation Centre is a dynamic multi-use facility that celebrates community, heritage, and resilience. As engineer of record, we were proud to support the delivery of this architecturally expressive and culturally significant project through full structural engineering services.
Inspired by a modern interpretation of the teepee, the building features a dramatic sweeping roof form that required careful coordination to ensure structural performance while supporting the architectural vision. The building includes a gathering hall, commercial kitchen, fitness and wellness areas, children's playroom, classrooms, and space for traditional language and cultural programming.
Structural solutions were tailored to accommodate a complex roof geometry, long-span spaces, and community-focused amenities, while also aligning with sustainability goals—including the integration of solar panels and recycled materials. The facility is envisioned as a long-term hub for cultural education, community events, and traditional ceremonies.
